Princess Kakyuu

Yes, Princess Kakyuu is a Senshi. In Act 49, she transforms herself into Sailor Soldier to protect Usagi from evil Sailor Galaxia. We are not given much time to learn about Kakyuu's personality; her stand against Galaxia proves to be her last.

Information

Kakyuu is the princess of the Red Cercis Kingdom on the planet Kinmoku. Her guardian soldiers are Sailor Star Fighter, Sailor Star Maker, and Sailor Star Healer. She falls to Earth and is hidden in a bottle of incense carried by Chibi-Chibi. Her three Senshi follow, and begin a desperate search for their lost princess.

With the help of her henshin phrase, Kakyuu becomes Sailor Kakyuu of Kinmoku. The desire to protect Usagi prompts her to reveal her Senshi form. Like Eternal Sailor Moon, Kakyuu has wings.

The name Kakyuu means fireball, but the meaning has nothing to do with her powers. Rather, the pun rests with the name of her planet. Kinmoku is a play on kinmokusei, the Japanese word for olive, which is what she smells like.

(note: The Three Lights have a peculiar naming scheme. Their first names are all Kou. Since Kou is written last in Japanese and the Senshi always refer to them by their surnames, many people mistake Kou for their last name and declare the Three Lights are all brothers. There are two problems with this theory: 1) in Japanese, given names and surnames are reversed, and 2) the Three Lights are women. In the manga, the Three Lights cannot change their gender as they do in the anime. Rather, their male personas are clothing disguises, not anatomical ones.)

Seiya Kou

Seiya is regarded as the ringleader of the Three Lights and of the Sailor Star Lights. She first runs into Usagi at the airport when Mamoru is about to go to the United States. Seiya and the Three Lights then transfer to Usagi's high school. At first, Seiya seems to be the typical teenage boy; she even appears to have a crush on Usagi. However, Haruka is suspicious, and she should be; Seiya reveals "himself" as Sailor Star Fighter.

Information

Seiya has the power to transform into Sailor Star Fighter. She comes from the planet Kinmoku, and is a guardian Senshi of Princess Kakyuu.

As mentioned before, "Seiya" is her last name and "Kou" is her first name. Translated, her name means star field light (sei ya kou). The Sailor Stars season has not yet been dubbed into English, but the manga has, as of December 2000. Mixx reversed her names: she has been named "Seiya Lights."

Seiya's birthday is on July 30.

Taiki Kou

Taiki is the brains behind the Three Lights/Sailor Starlights. She has even bested Ami in academics, beating her out for the high school's highest scores. Taiki is the only Three Light that actually enjoys the high school part of her disguise as a male. She is not under as much suspicion as Seiya, but she also shocks the Senshi by becoming Sailor Star Maker.

Information

Taiki has the power to become Sailor Star Maker. She comes from the planet Kinmoku, and is a guardian Senshi of Princess Kakyuu.

As mentioned before, "Taiki" is her last name and "Kou" is her first name. Translated, her name means atmospheric light (taiki kou). The Sailor Stars season has not yet been dubbed into English, but the manga has, as of December 2000. Mixx reversed her names: she has been named "Taiki Lights."

Taiki's birthday is on May 30.

Yaten Kou

Yaten is the artistic part of the Three Lights. She likes photography, but she also has a bit of a mean streak. She snatches away Usagi's letter to Mamoru and makes fun of her spelling. Along with her fellow band-mates, Yaten turns into Sailor Star Healer.

Information

Yaten has the power to become Sailor Star Healer. She comes from the planet Kinmoku, and is a guardian Senshi of Princess Kakyuu.

As mentioned before, "Yaten" is her last name and "Kou" is her first name. Translated, her name means night sky light (ya ten kou). The Sailor Stars season has not yet been dubbed into English, but the manga has, as of December 2000. Mixx reversed her names: she has been named "Yaten Lights."

Yaten's birthday is on February 8.

Chibi-Chibi

Technically, Chibi-Chibi is a form of Sailor Moon, but I'll get into that later.... After sending Mamoru off, Usagi returns home to find that a cute little pink-haired girl has taken over her home, much in the same way Chibi-Usa had. Ikuko-mama calls her "Usagi's little sister, Chibi-Chibi-chan." Usagi and the girls try to figure out who she is and where she came from, but they fall flat. Actually, Chibi-Chibi is protecting and insense burner, which is the hiding place of Princess Kakyuu.

Information

Chibi-Chibi is a form of Sailor Moon from the future. She came back in the form of Chibi-Chibi because the different times of a person cannot exist in the same reality (Sailor Moon cannot coexist in Crystal Tokyo as the present soldier with Neo-Queen Selenity for long). By becoming Chibi-Chibi, she became a different person, able to coexist with Usagi.

Chibi-Chibi, being Sailor Moon, can become Sailor Chibi-Chibi. Later in the Stars arc, Chibi-Chibi transforms into Sailor Cosmos, the ultimate form of Sailor Moon.

Sailor Cosmos

The story behind Sailor Cosmos is complicated and a bit confusing.....

Sailor Cosmos is the ultimate form of Sailor Moon. After reaching this level of power, Sailor Cosmos faced Sailor Chaos in a war. She had the opportunity to kill Chaos, but she felt pity and instead sealed Chaos in the Cauldron, the place in the universe where star seeds are created. Ever since then, she has regretted her decision. When Sailor Chaos broke out of the Cauldron in Usagi's time, Cosmos became Chibi-Chibi. Her purpose was to warn Usagi about her decision and to urge her to kill Sailor Chaos and destroy the Cauldron so that evil could not be born again (all of the villians have come from the Cauldron).

However, once Sailor Cosmos came face-to-face with Usagi, she realized that her decision was the right one. "The chosen path was not a mistake," Cosmos says. "Nobody can destroy the place where stars are born. Because of this place, we can continue living. Time and time again, we can start over."

In the end, it was Eternal Sailor Moon who gave Cosmos the strength to go on, to accept everything that is going to happen in the future. She questions Usagi, who has thrown herself into the Cauldron to save everyone. "Saying you want to create a new history of the stars? I wonder if that means you want to leave here [the Cauldron] in those star forms?"

"We want to go live together, always, like this," Usagi answers for herself, Mamoru, and the Senshi, Sailor Cosmos grants her that wish, shrinking and sealing Chaos in the Cauldron, unsure whether the evil will be born again, but confident that her destiny will tell her eventually.

Luna

Luna is Usagi's feline guardian. She has the daunting task of training Usagi to be the perfect soldier and Princess. Luna is a whiz with computers and is able to modify watches into two-way communication devices.

Since she comes from the planet Mau [what cats say in Japan; meow, mau], Luna is able to talk and can also assume a human form when it is necessary. All of her power resides in the cresent moon on her forehead; when it is covered or damaged, she cannot speak or perform any of her unusal, un-catlike actions.

In the future Crystal Tokyo, Luna and Artemis will have a daughter, a cute gray kitten named Diana.

Artemis

Artemis belongs to Minako. He sought her out in the Sailor V manga in order to turn her into the ally of justice, Sailor V. He had a much harder job than Luna: Minako was younger when she was first called, and she didn't have any allies.

Since he comes from the planet Mau [what cats say in Japan; meow, mau], Artemis is able to talk and can also assume a human form when it is necessary. All of his power resides in the cresent moon on his forehead; when it is covered or damaged, he cannot speak or perform any of his unusal, un-catlike actions.

In the future Crystal Tokyo, Artemis and Luna will have a daughter, a cute gray kitten named Diana.

Diana

Diana is the daughter of Luna and Artemis and the kitten of Small Lady. She guards the Gates of Time for Sailor Pluto whenever she must leave. Eventually, she travels to the past to be with her parents and Chibi-Usa.

Since her parents are from the planet Mau [what cats say in Japan; meow, mau], Diana is able to talk and can also assume a human form when it is necessary. All of her power resides in the cresent moon on her forehead; when it is covered or damaged, she cannot speak or perform any of her unusual, un-catlike actions.
